Yet another summer week at Camp White Meadow has passed us by, which for those of you keeping score at home means that five weeks are down and just two more remain.
Last week finished with a bang, as our first and second grade group, the Tootsie Rolls surprised us all and made history, becoming the first group of that age to ever win our annual SING! competition. Congratulations to Barbara Katz, and all of her hard-working counselors and wonderful campers. The Tootsie Rolls were rewarded with an ice cream party this week.
This week brought some great weather and whole-camp trips for all campers, as the lower camp took me to pristine Turtleback Zoo on Tuesday and the upper camp went to newly renovated
Liberty
Science
Center
on Thursday. In between, the 4 vs. 4 camper/counselor basketball tournament took place, with the winner set to be crown on Friday morning.
Our Teen Travel groups were busy as usual, with 2-Day Teen Travel going to
Tomahawk
Lake
on Tuesday and
Liberty
Science
Center
on Thursday, while 4-Day Teen Travel went to
Swartswood
Lake
,
Hershey
Park
, L.S.C., and
Seaside
this week.
We finished the week in style with Aloha to Hawaii Day on Friday. All of our campers had a ball as we celebrated with special Hawaiian-themed art projects, games, swimming, and snacks.
Weird things have started happening around The Meadow, as Color Games 2008 is coming in the near future. What will the theme be? Who will be the leaders? What team will you be on? We will all find out soon.
A Word About Tipping
Dear Parents,
As you know, the end is quickly approaching on another memorable summer at Camp White Meadow. As you see on a daily basis, we have an enthusiastic staff that works tirelessly to make our camp program so successful. Please allow me to remind you that tipping our staff members is both encouraged and appreciated. Counselors and supervisors will welcome a gesture of gratitude you believe is sufficient and appropriate for the quality of summer that your camper has enjoyed.
Until Next Time,
-Jonathan Roman
